On July 19 QIBA & AHK organized a visit of Lingshan Bay Studio — Qingdao is China's only UNESCO City of Film, and one of the selected 13 of its kind globally.

We learned that Lingshan Bay will boost the film and television industry and is slated to be built into a film industrial base and even become a center for global film and television culture. From the start, it aims at a whole-chain development mode with professional and large-scale film infrastructure, a complete chain of supporting facilities and organization of influential international film festivals.

After visiting the actual film studios there were two presentations at the Qingdao Film Museum: “The Backstage Heroes: All about making a film.“ introduced us to the amazing” and slightly scary  possibilities of digital imagery by showing how a thorough scan of one actor’s facial expressions and movements can be transformed into a complete animated character on screen. “Lingshan Bay: A Rising Movie Metropolis” introduced the lofty goals for the development of the whole area. At the same time, children got to build their own “movie camera” in a DIY session led by the museum staff.

The final socializing and unwinding part of the evening happened with an outdoor BBQ in the relaxing grounds of the Crowne Plaza Movie Metropolis. Some guests even spontaneously decided to spend the night for a leisurely start into the weekend!
